An Xiao Named Best Emerging Artist in Photography

An Xiao was recently named Best Emerging Artist in Photography at GLAAD’s annual outAuction 2007. The award was determined by the GLAAD Arts Advisory Committee, consisting of a number of members of the New York art world, including the Philip Johnson Glass House, The Herb Ritts Foundation, Ross Bleckner, Lawrence DiCarlo, Patrick McMullan, George Kocis, White Columns, Exit Art and others.

Given the excellent work present at the auction, this is an amazing honor for her, and she is truly humbled by their decision. Many thanks to Enrique Limon, TJ Volonis, Mark Pingol, Johnny Gonzales and all the organizers of the auction, and of course, to Dr. Mari Morimoto, who generously donated her work for the evening.

OUTAuction Promo Card

Two of An Xiao’s pieces, Spotlights, 2006, and Hunger Memorial, 2007, have been chosen for GLAAD OUTAuction 2007’s Top 100 Artists. Just last year, the auction was only her second juried group exhibition. The event will be held the evening of Sunday, October 21, and will feature many fine works for auction; previous artists have included Ross Bleckner, Patrick McMullan, Annie Leibovitz, Karim Rashid, Mario Sorrenti, Peter Max, Rosie O’Donnell, and, of course, An Xiao.
