An Xiao has been interviewed by Simply Haiku’s Managing Editor, Robert D. Wilson, about her creative work, both as a poet and a photographer. Simply Haiku is one of the leading English-language journals of Japanese poetry and aesthetics, and this marks An’s most extensive interview to date. In it, Robert writes, “Your photographs are poems in themselves, the images stark, contrasting, and often surreal. They’re hard to ignore. Your photographs, An, draw viewers into the realities each of them paint and, like tanka and haiku, invite readers to complete them with their individual interpretations.”
