Brooklyn Museum’s 1stfans Twitter Art Feed

An Xiao is thrilled to announce that the Brooklyn Museum has selected her as their debut feature artist for the 1stfans Twitter Art Feed. With content determined by the month’s feature, the feed serves as one of the benefits of 1stfans, a new membership program for fans of the museum’s Target First Saturdays. She is grateful to program directors Shelley Bernstein and Will Cary and curators Eugenie Tsai, Patrick Amsellem and Lauren Ross for selecting her proposal.

During the month of January 2009, An will be microblogging in Morse code. In so doing, she aims to recall the communications revolution that the telegraph brought about. However, by using the code to share daily life inanity, she hopes to encourage 1stfans members to examine the evolution of instant communication and what purpose, exactly, is served by sharing such minor details of one’s life.

The Brooklyn Museum’s official announcement can be found on their blog, and An’s full proposal can be found here. Please stay tuned for more details about this exciting opportunity!
