Physical Installation with a Mobile Phone Component
For DUMBO Art Center’s 13th Annual DUMBO Art Under the Bridge Festival, September 25-27, I will install an official-looking sign at the edge of the water in a prominent location in Empire State Park, overlooking the Manhattan skyline. Imagine an official Stop or No Parking sign. It will have simple instructions: “For info, text [CODE] to 41411.” Visitors who send the text message will receive an intriguing note about the view from DUMBO. An is currently raising funds for this project at Kickstarter.com.

Nothing to tweet home about
Postcard Installation
Exhibited at Status Update at Yale/Haskins Laboratories in conjunction with the Arts Council of Greater New Haven, Nothing to Tweet Home About was a postcard-based installation. For the duration of the exhibition, An Xiao sent Twitter-like status updates every few days, to be pasted on the wall as a study of how the aggregate of microupdates can generate a portrait of oneself over time. This piece was photographed and explore in both The New York Times and the New Haven Independent.
